The Pens are getting closer to the point of no return with its current lineup. They have recalled 4 players from the minors, put 4 veterans on waivers, and now questions have been raised about how long Coach Eddie Olczyk will be around to juggle this underachieving line-up.

In an attempt to create more offense from the third line the Penguins released Rico Fata and Konstantine Koltzov this week. In their place, Matt Hussey and Michel Ouellet were recalled from Wilkes Barre Scranton.

An early season record of  0-2-4  have the Penguins frustrated with their performance and inability to finish off checks, play team defense and generally look like the highly skilled team they were advertised to be in the preseason.

The records mean nothing but if you look closely you can see some parts of the team that are forming and will make a difference when they drop the puck for real  on Wednesday  the 5th of October.



Penguins, NHL a better deal than MLB

After such a positive week of camp, Mario Lemieux broke the negative news that even with a sellout of the 41 regular season games and the expectations of at least a 2nd round advancement in the playoffs, the Penguins are expected to lose 7 million dollars this year.

          With No.1 pick  Sidney Crosby signed, sealed and delivered and camp opening this week, the Penguins are set for their most exciting training camp in decades. While last season was lost to a labor dispute, the Penguins were well prepared for the time when they would finally hit the ice again. General Manager Craig Patrick cut salaries in the 2003-2004 campaign to ready his team for a salary cap that was inevitable for the league to survive.

It was on June 1, 1992 when the Pittsburgh Penguins won the Stanley Cup. During that time due to a strike Pittsburgh had no Newspaper. Yet a few writers got together and managed to Publish a Free Paper that was Called the Allegheny Bulletin.


I will never forget the following day as on that day I found a copy of the Bulletin on my door step. I kept the paper and here it is. See the front Page... Read the Article
